DAY 1
Reception by your guide on arrival at Lviv, transfer to a 3* hotel and a guided tour of the city. Founded in 1251, it has a rich cultural heritage, strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance and the Polish Baroque movement. Walk in the old town to Rynok square and its medieval merchant houses. Dinner and night at the hotel.
DAY 2
Departure in car to Yeremcha in the Carpatian mountains, tour of the Manyakovsky Skit Monastery. 5 hours walking in the area Dinner and night in B&B in Yaremcha.
DAY 3
Transfer to Dovboshanka and trek. Dinner and night in a forester's cottage. 5 hours walk.
DAY 4
6h trek in the Hutsuls region
Dinner and night at an inn.
DAY 5
Trek (18 km) to the village of Vorokhta, tour of the Church of the Nativity and transfer to the Chernogora refuge.
DAY 6
Ascension of Harvela summit (2061 m) the highest in the Carpathians then transfer to Verkhovina (60 km). Dinner and night at hotel.
DAY 7
Tour of Verkhovina and return to Lviv. Free time before night train to Odessa.
DAY 8
Arrival in Odessa and trasfer to the hotel Krasnaya 3* in the town centre. Guided tour of the town.
Dinner in a town restaurant.
DAY 9
Free. Evening departure by train for Simferol in the heart of the Crimea.
DAY 10
Arrival and transfer to the hotel, then guided tour of the town. Simferol is a recent town founded by Catherine II of Russia at the end of the 18C. Boat tour of the military port and then the ruins of the Greek town of Cherson founded in the 6th C BC. Dinner and night in 2* hotel.
Day 11
Departure for Bakchisarai (30 km), former Tatar capital of Crimea in the north of the Krimski Ori moountain range. Tour of the Khan palace and its annexes. After lunch, tour of the troglodyte site at Chufut Kalé, former capital, with its winding streets, towers and fortresses, mausoleum and cemetary. Dinner and night in 2* hotel.
DAY 12
Trek in the Krimski Ori mountains, through scattered Tatar villages towards Tepe-Kermen, a medieval underground city. 5-6 hours walk, night in camp.
DAY 13
Continuation of trek. Spectaculr views of the Black Sea coastline. 6 hours walk. Night in camp.
DAY 14
Return to Yalta (5 hours walk). The climate here is
warm and the vegetation luxuriant. Rest before a walk along the sea front. Night in B&B.
DAY 15
Visit of the Tchekov house-museum and its garden. On the outskirts of Yalta you will visit the Alupka palace, reminiscent of a 19th C English manor house.
Return to Lviv by air.
